Defect

THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER HOIST COMPONENTS CAN BECOME LOOSE WHILE TRAVELING AND ALLOW THE SPARE TIRE TO MOVE FROM ITS STORED POSITION TO THE ROAD SURFACE.

Consequence

THE SPARE TIRE CAN CONTACT THE ROAD SURFACE INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE FOLLOWING VEHICLES.

Remedy

DEALERS WILL ADD A PRIMARY SPARE TIRE SUPPORT BRACKET.

“Received recall notice 99v01200 in the mail. Contacted dealer. Was informed parts were not available. Contacted manufacturer & received recorded message. Dealer was helpful, but was not able to do repairs because parts for spare tire carrier were not available. *ak”

“Ongoing intermittent problem with vehicle locking up driveshaft whenever gear is shifted out of park into reverse. Also, parking brake failed to release which caused vehicle to lock up. Vehicle was in/out of dealer shop on three occasions and problem still occurs. Seeking help in this mater. *ak”
