Defect

STEERING GEARS HAVE NO END-OF-TRAVEL STOPS. EXTREME LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS PLACE ADDED LOADS ON THE AXLE STEERING ARM WHICH CAN CAUSE THE ARM TO LOOSEN AND SHEAR MOUNTING STUDS.

Consequence

LOOSENING OF THE STEERING ARM OR SHEARING OF THEMOUNTING STUDS RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, AND A POSSIBLE VEHICLEACCIDENT.

Remedy

INSTALL STEERING ARM STOP AND NEW STUDS.
