CERTAIN LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS MAY HAVE HAD THE OUTER CORRUGATED PROTECTIVE CONDUIT FOR THE BATTERY CABLE WORN THROUGH AT THE REAR TRANSMISSION MOUNTING BRACKET AND THE BATTERY CABLE MAY RUB AGAINST THE EDGE OF THE THIRD FRAME CROSS MEMBER SUPPORT AND ALLOW THE BATTERY CABLE TO SHORT AGAINST THE FRAME.
Consequence
THIS COULD CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BATTERY CABLE WITH A REDESIGNED CABLE THAT WILL PREVENT MOVEMENT OF THE CABLE INSIDE THE CORRUGATED PROTECTIVE CONDUIT AND A PROTECTIVE EDGE GUARD WILL BE INSTALLED ON THE LOWER EDGE OF THE THIRD CHASSIS FRAME ACROSS MEMBER SUPPORT.
