Defect

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2023-2025 VNR Electric trucks. The high voltage battery may contain loose hardware, which can create a short circuit inside the battery cells.

Consequence

A high voltage battery that short circuits increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the batteries, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 24, 2025. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 24V790000 2024-10-23 124,949 affected
Defect

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2020-2025 VN, VAH, VHD and VNRE trucks, equipped with Bendix EC80 Advanced Electronic Control Units (ECU). Electrical noise and low signal to the power line carrier may cause the ECU to incorrectly process commands or stop working.

Consequence

Safety systems that depend on the ECU (Automatic Traction Control, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Active Cruise Control, and Collison Mitigation System) may have diminished or lost functionality, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will reprogram the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 9, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Truck's number for this recall is RVXX2409.

STEERING 24V396000 2024-06-04 3,502 affected
Defect

Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2025 VN, VNRe, and VHD trucks. The drag link may contain an improperly heat-treated ball stud that can fail, resulting in a sudden loss of steering control.

Consequence

A sudden loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the repair has been performed. Dealers will inspect and replace the drag links, as necessary, free of charge.
